A Tutoring System For Air Traffic Control On the Basis of a Cognitive Model
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we present a new computer based training environment for the domain of air traffic control. It is the application of an already existing implementation of a cognitive model for air traffic control (Niessen et al., 1998) that is based on the psychologically founded cognitive architecture ACT-R (Anderson & Lebiere, 1998). The novelty of our new training system lies in its approach to use a cognitive model of an experienced operator. This simulated operator monitors the ongoing events in the environment and builds up an internal representation of the situation. The resulting structure is assumed to be analogous to the mental model the trainee is desired to have. The simulated mental model enables the training system to support the learner by presenting additional training related information. In the next section we describe what air traffic control is. After that we show that in the air traffic control domain other computer based training approaches can not be sufficiently exploited. Thus we describe the ideas behind our training system. We close our report with a brief discussion of the possibilities to apply our approach to other domains.

Background and aim: Air traffic control has known as a complex cognitive task, which requires controller to focus on task for long time. Mental workload plays an important role in the performance of controllers. The aim of this study was to assess the workload of air traffic controller on the basis of task load factors. Methods: The present descriptive-analytical study was conducted among fo...
متن کاملDevelopment of a strategic plan through SWOT analysis to control traffic-borne air pollutants using CALINE4 model
Traffic is one of the main sources of air pollution in metropolitan areas. With development of transportation system, inappropriate vehicle production, and the use of low-quality fuels, increased pollution in these areas is inevitable. The current study tries to determine PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and CO emission dispersion, caused by traffic, using CALINE4 software. Ac...
متن کاملStudent Modelling for Operational Skill Training in Air Traffic Control
Current student modelling techniques cannot be applied directly to operational training on simulators in complex and dynamic worlds such as Air Traffic Control because of the lack of appropriate expert models and time constraints. The objective of this research is to present a student modelling approach for individualising the simulation training that (1) is specific to operational skill traini...

Background and Aim: High concentrations of particulate matter-25 (PM2.5) have been the cause of the unhealthiest days in Tehran, Iran in recent years. This study was conducted with the aim of the spatio-temporal analysis of traffic volume and its relationship with PM2.5 pollutant concentrations in Tehran metropolis, Tehran during 2015-2018, using the Geographic Information System (GIS). متن کاملDeveloping 3 dimensional model for estimation of acoustic power in urban pathways in geo-spatial information system framework
Around the word, traffic growth is causing growing air and noise pollution. Noise levels in a given area are affected by traffic on the streets as well as effective factors, including existing infrastructure and industrial centers, and so on. The purpose of this research is to model and estimate the amount of acoustic emission in the streets of Tehran's third district, using the 3D spatial info...
